Beanie Sigel Talking ’bout Ghetto Life

I have to admit, watching Beanie Siegels’s new video for In the Ghetto kind of hurts, in the truthful kind of way. More often than not, I find myself rolling my eyes at the videos by today’s hip-hop stars because they tend to project a (reckless) lifestyle that can only truly exist in Fantasyland. In the Ghetto, however, is a far cry from the hip-hop video you’re used to seeing on TV. In fact, the imagery is something you would expect to see in a CNN Special Report. The display of poverty, hopelessness and desperation that is sweeping the nation is more than vivid; its piercing. We must begin to harness the talent and leadership we possess to elevate our country, one ghetto at a time.

‘We must begin to harness the talent and leadership we possess to elevate our country, one ghetto at a time.’….very true statement…WOW it does look like a CNN documentary of some sort…! I couldn’t agree more. CHANGE is OVERDUE!

We talk about gentrification in our black neighborhoods, prime example is Harlem but if we don’t take care of our people, communities and family how can we look down on those who capitalize on our own demise? Nakia is correct it is time for change, change of self, of mind and spirit. We as a people came together an elected our first black president but it isn’t enough to leave him standing alone to change our situations. People we have to step up and step in and assume our positions as leaders of our Ghettos and turn them into fortresses… ONE!!!!
