wtf: Cassidy on Finding the Balance in a Relationship
Thursday, July 30th, 2009I had to post. I mean, why not. I was actually quite entertained. It was so sad that it ended up being funny. You those kinds of things, right?
In Full Color
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009Here’s one for all my iphoners. You CAN send your photos in their ORIGINAL size, not the resized versions the iphone automatically creates. Check out Adam Pash’s article on Lifehacker.com to learn how. Oh… and if you’re really all about the iphone, you might wanna check this kid out, he wrote a book called How to Do Everything with Your iPhone.
I personally don’t use the iphone, but I love new tricks and shortcuts and things. So yep, me likey!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009Love songs. Remember those things? When you would lose yourself in the musical expression of love for someone else, whether it be a lover, child or mother? To be honest, I forgot about them. Seriously. I realized that when I was listening to “Give Me the Night” (George Benson) on Equilibrium Radio (WHCR 90.3 FM).
I thought to myself these are cool lyrics! Seconds later Probe nudged me and said, “they’re playing your song.” (This was one of the first records my mother bought me when I got my first record player. My other record was Billy Joel’s ”Uptown Girl”)
I then thought about a comment I heard from Mary J. Blige recently. She said something like Drake’s “You the Best” is the best song we’ve (meaning us ladies) have had in a long time; a song where we are being hailed and loved. I sat there just smh and thinking, this is so sad. So so sad. Love Sex songs have taken over and it’s a pity. NO one will know how to communicate in a relationship.
I ended up having a very interesting chat with my friend. Peep it. Quite entertaining.
wtf: Forget the corner, Little Miss Bad Ass must sit in the “sin bin”
Monday, July 27th, 2009Ok… so I just read an article about the British governments latest attempt to curtail “bad behaviour” from their families. It works as such: members of “Shameless” families are given intensive 24-hour supervision to make sure children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals. Parents are also given help to stop them leading dysfunctional lives and to combat drug or alcohol addiction. This is like Nanny 911 on steroids.
WTF? Can you imagine if they tried that over on this side of the pond. Tee Hee… the thought of it just makes me giggle. Here’s more.
Pay that last month’s rent or dip?
Monday, July 27th, 2009Sketchy, I know. But believe it or not, that very question runs through the heads of many a tenant. Here’s a little solution for those who are homeless - not poor and begging on the street - just without permanent residence OR for those whose lease on their apartments are up and they don’t want to renew and have yet to find a new crib.

If I didn’t have a husband and two kids to tote around, I might give this a whirl!!

Monday, July 27th, 2009Let’s Get It Poppin’!
Monday, July 27th, 2009Yes! I am talking about popcorn, the glorious, low calorie, easy-to-make snack for all ages. I originally bought this popcorn maker so my kids could make it by themselves. For one, I was over buying popcorn from the store every day (what a rip off!!) and for two, I hated making it, whether in the microwave or stove, every time they had a craving.
Anyway, I have come to love this machine. It is so inexpensive (I paid $15 on sale at Walmart) and it pops nearly every kernel every time. In less than 2 minutes, the kids have a big ass bowl to watch their favorite show with or to split amongst themselves. The clean-up is a cinch and I have the option of adding salt or butter. Most times I do, but sometimes I can get the kids to eat it with no toppings at all. Win win for everyone.
To Top It Off…
Sunday, July 26th, 2009A very lovely fashionista/editor/friend of mine recently introduced me to good to go, a product in the Nail Treatment line by Essie. To say that I fell in love with it almost instantly would be an understatement. In between outings she stopped through the crib and did some nail maintenance; a quick color change (light to dark!!) applied a top coat and was out the door. Of course, I held the doors for her and helped her into her car, but that was merely being over-cautious. Seriously. This product truly lives up to its name: the fastest drying top coat.
You apply your color and a layer of this topcoat will give you the professional salon-like glossy look you’re used to shelling out at least $15 bucks for. You can do basic things like grab your purse, turn off all lights and get out the house, jump in your whip or hail a taxi… the basics. I haven’t tried or would suggest fiddling through your purse to find your keys, BlackBerry/iPhone, lip gloss or gum. Get all that stuff BEFORE you do your nails or wait at least 10 minutes, which may or may not put a halt in your plans. Overall, I say, if you are on-the-go, then good to go is for you.
New for ‘09 is Essie’s releases, matte about you. Now this topcoat does the quite the opposite of good to go. Instead of that “shiny-shiny” good to go gives you, matte about you is well… simply that: matte. And of course, it’s just in time for Fall ‘09 which touts matte nails as the latest fashion trend.
So… for a busy working-mom trying to keep up with my children and fashion, at $10 a pop, these products are well worth the investment. Purchase from Essie here.
1and1 does not equal 2. In fact, 1and1=FAIL!
Sunday, July 26th, 2009I think it’s time to upgrade. I’ve been hosting our domain with 1and1.com for years now, maybe 6 or so. In fact, I was one of their “charter members” which means I was one of the first clients to sign up when they expanded to the US. And now I am running into all kinds of issues. They offer all of these “freebies” but they’re so limited it’s almost not worth it. I think I’m gonna have to upgrade and get ready to start paying for the services I really want. What’s the saying, all good things come to an end… yep, they sure do.
